Steven is an independent artist and designer who was born in Michigan and then grew up in Northern Indiana. A good part of his early life was spent fishing the lakes, hiking the trails and booming through those rural communities in the great lakes region of the midwest. While developing his studio practice, and admiring the Beat poets' continuous sentences from the 1950's, Steven managed to support himself by freelancing in the furniture design, product design and custom fabrication industries. He has served in the Indiana Army National Guard, becoming a wartime veteran before completing his education. Steven received a BFA in Sculpture from Indiana University and earned an MFA in Furniture Design from the Herron School of Art and Design. He currently maintains a studio in Michigan.
